Harbortown Music came into being in a very organic way.
After getting her feet wet and gaining invaluable experience as the publicist for the me & thee coffeehouse in her hometown of Marblehead, Massachusetts, Kathy Sands-Boehmer moved into the position of booking manager for this venerable and very well-respected coffeehouse. She is only the fourth person to book all the shows in its entire history (of 38 years).
Booking (only) 28 shows a year left Kathy with the bug to do more to promote music. Having learned the business as a venue promoter, she thought she'd take up the challenge of finding venues for various performers. Kathy is an active member of the Boston Area Coffeehouse Association and recently participated as a Tri-Centric judge at the 2006 NERFA Conference (North East Regional Folk Alliance). She can be found at local music haunts all over New England in her spare time.
Kathy's day job as an editor at a Boston publishing company has also trained her well. The skills that she has learned working with authors: keeping them on track, ensuring that their message gets across in the best possible way, and making professional and personal relationships that have lasted for more than two decades have been invaluable.
She is happy to promote all of the artists you see on these pages. If you're not familiar with them, take a moment to discover them. If you are familiar with them, that's great. Let's be in touch about having one or all of them at your venue in the near future.
